Whilst at Balloonista, we are firm believers that you should celebrate the people you love everyday and not just once a year on the 14th of February, with life being so busy we know how easy it is to take our loved ones for granted and so if Valentine’s Day acts as your reminder to tell your nearest and dearest that you love them then we are all for it!
Whilst Valentine’s Day is known across the world as being the day of love and is most typically associated with hearts, roses and Cupid, you might be surprised to learn the true origins of Valentine’s Day.
The concept of Valentine’s Day is that originates from the story of Saint Valentine – a romantic tragedy which gives Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet a run for its money. Saint Valentine was imprisoned in a Roman prison and was killed for helping his fellow prisoners to escape their brutal beatings. Saint Valentine had fallen in love with his jailer’s daughter, and before his death he sent her a letter confessing his love and signed it ‘from your Valentine’. Little did he know that this was going to end up being the first of millions of tokens given from one lover to another every year on the 14th of February, and these would become known around the world as Valentines.
Over the years, the typical Valentines have evolved from Saint Valentines original handwritten letter and these days the most popular Valentines are cards, chocolates and roses.

Whilst Valentine’s Day is most typically associated with romantic love, at Balloonista we are passionate about celebrating everyone we love in our lives, whether this is our friends, parents, colleagues and children. After all, it is the people in our lives who make it so special, and what better a time to celebrate our most special relationships than the international day of love.
Whether you are celebrating Valentine’s Day with your partner or Galentine’s with your girls, here are a couple of ideas from the Balloonista Team on how to make your loved ones feel the love:
♥️ Make a DIY gift hamper for your single girlfriends with face masks, bath bombs and a mini bottle of wine – basically everything that they need for an at home pamper night.
♥️ Swap the flower deliveries for a balloon delivery and surprise your other half at home or at work. Find some inspiration here.
♥️ Gather your girls or your kids and make some Valentine’s cookies and then have fun decorating them with some pink and red icing.
